How automatic reading catches leaks before they get expensive
Most water leaks in multistorey buildings go unnoticed until an unusually large invoice arrives — typically a month or two after the problem started. In a manual reading cycle, 30 days or more can pass between two visits, and that is exactly when most of the loss accumulates.
Remote reading changes that dynamic. If a sensor reports a reading every day, the system can compare it against the previous period and flag a deviation within days, not after a full billing cycle.
What early detection means in practice
- The property manager gets an alert instead of finding out from a resident complaint.
- Repairs can be scheduled before the damage spreads to neighboring structures.
- Invoice amounts stay predictable for both managers and residents.
In practice, buildings that switch to automatic reading tend to lower unplanned repair costs, because problems are addressed at an early stage rather than after they have already caused wider damage.
